Book a timed At the Top ticket online on the official site, and choose a morning or late-evening slot: they're cheaper and much quieter than the 1-7 pm peak, which includes sunset. The only ticket with a genuinely separate, shorter entrance is the SKY (Level 148) tier.

How long is the line at the Burj Khalifa?

Every At the Top ticket is timed, so you don't queue to buy one if you've booked. You do queue for security and the high-speed lifts, and around sunset everyone wants the same few slots. That's when the wait from the entrance in The Dubai Mall to the viewing deck is longest.

Morning: cheaper tickets, short lines and usually the clearest air before the afternoon haze.

Late evening: after the sunset rush, the city lights are spectacular and the lines ease.

Insider tips that actually save time

Find the entrance first. At the Top is on the lower ground floor of The Dubai Mall, and the mall is enormous. Allow 15-20 minutes to walk there.

Arrive at your slot time, not much earlier. You won't be let in ahead of it.

Watch the Dubai Fountain from the deck, or plan your slot to come down in time for a show.

Want sunset without the price? Go up just after sunset, then stay for the lights.

Is skip-the-line worth paying extra for?

Only the SKY tier really changes the line, with its own entrance and fewer people at level 148. It's worth it for a special occasion or a sunset slot. For most visitors, a morning or late-evening standard ticket gives a short wait at a lower price.
