How to Skip the Line at Florence Cathedral
The cathedral itself is free, but its queue can wrap around the building by late morning, so go at opening. To climb Brunelleschi's Dome, you need the Brunelleschi Pass (€30) and a timed slot, booked online on duomo.firenze.it, ideally days or weeks ahead in summer. Bring photo ID matching the name on the ticket.

How long are the lines at the Duomo?
There are two different lines. The free cathedral queue builds through the morning and can take an hour at its peak. The dome climb has no standing queue if you've booked a slot, but slots sell out, and the narrow staircase can still mean shuffling behind other climbers. There's no lift and no shortcut to the top.
Before you book your dome slot, check how busy the Duomo is likely to be. BeatTheCrowd shows the live crowd level and an hourly forecast for any date, adjusted for Italian holidays, school breaks and weather.
