How busy is Sanmachi Suji?

Three narrow streets of dark wooden merchant houses, sake breweries and craft shops make up Takayama's old town. It's the town's main sight, and groups coming from or going to Shirakawa-gō fill it in the middle of the day. Side lanes stay much quieter.
