Ryōgoku Kokugikan: How to Get Sumo Tickets in Tokyo
Ryōgoku Kokugikan hosts Tokyo's three sumo tournaments in January, May and September. Each runs for 15 days, tickets go on sale about a month before on the official Ticket Ōzumō site, and January often sells out on day one. The top-division bouts run from about 3:45 pm to 6 pm, so arrive in the early afternoon to watch the lower divisions up close with fewer people.

How busy is Ryōgoku Kokugikan?
The 11,000-seat arena sells out on many tournament days, especially weekends and the first and last days. The day starts around 8:30 am with junior wrestlers in a near-empty hall, and the seats fill steadily until the top-division ring-entering ceremony in the late afternoon.
