teamLab Borderless Tickets and Tips: How to Beat the Crowds at Azabudai Hills
By the BeatTheCrowd team · Updated 21 October 2026 · 6 min read
Quick answer
teamLab Borderless at Azabudai Hills uses timed tickets with dynamic prices, roughly ¥3,600-¥5,600 for adults, and weekend slots sell out, sometimes weeks ahead. Book on the official site, where you can change your date up to three times (until 2 hours before), unlike most resellers. Take the first slot on a weekday: in the first 30 minutes, rooms like the waterfall room and Infinite Crystal World are nearly empty. Allow 2-3 hours. There's no map and no set route, so plan to do a second loop.

How busy is teamLab Borderless?
teamLab Borderless reopened in February 2024 inside Azabudai Hills, and passed 4 million visitors from over 185 countries. Artworks move between rooms, react to visitors and change over time, and there's no map, so visitors spread out more than at Planets. Crowds still build fast: on a weekday in October, the waterfall room was almost empty at 8 am and busy by 10 am.
The bottlenecks are rooms with limited capacity, such as Bubble Universe (with a time limit of about 5 minutes), and the EN Tea House, where a queue forms within about 30 minutes of opening.

Photographers
Book the first slot, wear plain dark clothes to stand out against the projections, and use your phone's night mode. Tripods and selfie sticks aren't allowed.
Families
Sketch Ocean and the Block Room are favourites with kids. Strollers can't go in, but they fit in the lockers. Some rooms are dark and loud, which can upset small children.
Limited mobility and sensory needs
The museum is mostly dry and step-free, but some works are on slopes or can't be reached, and the dark rooms and mirrored floors can be disorienting. Check teamLab's FAQ, particularly for photosensitive epilepsy, before booking.
Short on time
Allow at least 90 minutes. Head for the waterfall room, Bubble Universe and the Lamp Forest, then Sketch Ocean.
