Arashiyama Monkey Park: The Hike, Cash Entry and When to Go

Iwatayama Monkey Park costs about ¥800 for adults, paid in cash at the gate. It's a steep 20-35 minute hike up Mount Arashiyama to the summit, where around 120 wild Japanese macaques roam freely and you can feed them from inside a hut. Go at the 9 am opening on a weekday, before Arashiyama's crowds, and check it's open in bad weather. Last entry is around 4-4:30 pm.
